Crave plans national roll-out for sandwich bars
Crave, a Cape Town-based sandwich and coffee bar chain that was launched in 2007, has opened its fourth store.
The new store is in the @homelivingspace in the Canal Walk Shopping Centre and is the first of many planned for a national roll-out with the homeware brand.
Crave is the brainchild of Dominic Johnson-Allen, a UK-born businessman with experience in property and hospitality. He knows the value of "location, location, location" and has followed European trends and his instincts for combining people, food and coffee to create the business.
He describes his stores as "urban farm stalls" and says he started Crave to fulfil a desire to create his own brand. His recipe for success "is delicious fresh food that is beautifully packaged and ready to go. Crave's speedy service is perfect for the business person, the busy shopper and tourists in a hurry."
Other Crave stores are on Greenmarket and Thibault squares in the Cape Town CBD and in the Estuaries Office Park at Century City.
Johnson-Allen worked in the hospitality industry for 14 years as a development and commercial director and was responsible for growing hotel and restaurant brands.
The Crave sandwiches, wraps, salads, croissants and muffins that are not sold at the end of every day are donated to Feedback, an organisation that collects and redistributes excess food from donors to community organisations.
