Simply Asia brings taste of East to West Johannesburg
Simply Asia has opened its latest restaurant in the Honey Crest Centre in the west of Johannesburg. The Simply Asia chain of restaurants is a subsidiary of Cape Thai Restaurant Holdings.
The brand opened its first outlet in Cape Town six years ago and has now has 20 restaurants in the Western Cape and Gauteng, with a further four scheduled to open this year.
Cape Thai Restaurant Holdings director, Chai Lekcharoensuk, says: "2010 will be a great year for us as a group and South Africa as a whole. To host the soccer World Cup is a dream come true, and we are planning to have an exciting menu, open more restaurants, strive to continuously get the best quality products at the best prices, not only to impress, but to create a brand to be remembered by all visitors and South Africans."
Simply Asia has built its brand on fresh, wholesome, tasty food, good service and affordable prices. A three-course meal averages less than R120.
For the launch of Simply Asia Honey Crest, new dishes have been added to the menu, including starters such as Khong Waang Raum Mitr, a six-piece combo platter that consists of three appetisers served with plum sauce and sweet chilli sauce (R32); and mains like Gai Thos Kra-Tiam, consisting of chicken stir fried in garlic with fresh vegetables (R49); and seafood dish Pad-Mee Phuket Thaley, which consists of prawns, calamari, eggs, beans and yellow noodles stir fried in a roasted chilli paste (R64).
The restaurant has employed a qualified sushi chef who will create a variety of sushi dishes. Popular items include Fashion Sandwiches (R19 to R29 for four pieces) and Maki Rolls (R14 to R19 for three pieces).
Sumethee Perchaow is the head regional chef in Gauteng for Simply Asia Franchise Holdings. He has been a part of the team since inception and is a qualified Thai chef, having gained his experience and knowledge of food from some of Bangkok's top hotels.
Gauteng operations manager Stephan Ferreira explains the brand's food philosophy: "The art of Thai cooking is a delicate and complex matter. When one masters it, everything else follows. It's all about the presentation, style and taste and our executive chef ensures the end results are always exquisite, making it a memorable experience for Simply Asia diners."
Dcor of the new restaurant follows the chains theme of red and black. The restaurant offers inside and outside seating, with the kitchen visible to diners. The sushi bar also allows customers to watch the chef at work.
