Another award for Pezula Spa
Pezula Spa at Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa in Knysna has been named one of the top ten spas in the world in the Cond Nast Traveller 2010 Readers' Spa Awards. It was also named second best hotel spa in Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean, the only spa in Africa to make the list.
The seventh annual Readers' Spa Awards saw spa lovers nominate their favourite places to relax, detox and generally improve their wellbeing, from chic urban day spas to exotic destination retreats.
Each spa is scored out of a maximum of 100 points to give an index of satisfaction with spa facilities and services. The criteria include ambience, dcor, body treatments, cuisine, service and staff.
Pezula Spa's overall satisfaction percentage was 95.34, up from last year's score of 92.29. The Best Spa in the Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean category was COMO Shambhala Retreat in Maldives, with a score of 95.57. The top spa in the world is Thermes Marins Bali, Ayana Resort and Spa (formerly The Ritz-Carlton) in Bali in Indonesia, which scored 95.60.
Since opening in February 2005, Pezula Spa has received a number of awards and accolades.
Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa is set above the Eastern Head of Knysna with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and the Knysna Lagoon. It is surrounded by indigenous forests and Cape fynbos.
The spa features a gym, outdoor Jacuzzi, 12m heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, sun bed, rain forest shower, juice bar, nail bar, hair salon, nine therapy rooms, a Medi-Spa and post-treatment room. A range of treatments is on offer by trained professionals. Products used are from the Maruwa collection of African body treatments incorporating ingredients and essential essences from the indigenous fynbos of the Western Cape.
